The only way that we can help fight addiction is to be informed on the latest emerging trends in drugs, and drug use. Anything that we can do to help save someone from the grips of these deadly drugs must be done. The exchange of information and communication is paramount in the war on addiction.
Prescription opiates have been popular for some time, as they become too expensive and harder to get, heroin has made a comeback. Studies have shown that over forty percent of teens don’t think that using heroin once or twice a week is a major risk. On the street heroin is known as “H” or “Chiba or Chiva” or “Skag” or “Tar” among many other nicknames. It’s killing our kids at a very rapid rate!
Methamphetamine is a neurotoxin that used to be very difficult to make, not anymore there is a new more dangerous process! On the street it is known as "rolling the bottle" it's the new one pot meth labs. It can be made just about anywhere using chemicals from the pharmacy and a small bottle. It is very dangerous! The bottle has to be opened just at the right time during the process, if not it can catch on fire, explode and release harmful ammonia gasses. The pharmacies don't communicate with each other on who purchases the necessary chemicals to create the end product. Meth is a horrible, destructive drug that takes and takes until nothing is left. Not even one shred of hope will be left by the time meth eats through a life, a soul, or a family. Meth is patient, cunning, and extremely ruthless as it melts a person's dreams, opportunities, and soul like acid. Heroin is cheap and it kills quickly. Meth is cheap and it creates zombies that eventually go quiet and still.
We have another problem, its name is Molly, slang for “molecular” referring to the pure crystalline powder from the club drug in pill form ecstasy. It's supposed to be MDMA but it's not, the real chemicals are running short, so in China, dealers are creating fake MOLLY made with all different substitute chemicals and poisons. Crime labs in South Florida tested some of the street Molly and found that it contained Methylone, a dangerous chemical found in “Bath Salts!” Users are risking their lives anytime they take this Mystery Molly! All these chemicals are very dangerous! Once Molly enters the bloodstream doctors may not be able to reverse the damages done by the unknown poisons. This drug is also killing our kids!
Krokodil is a synthetic “heroin like” drug called Desomorphine that is made by combining codeine tablets with toxic industrial chemicals and lighter fluid. It is known for destroying the flesh of the user. Another killer!
“N-Bomb” refers to any three closely related synthetic hallucinogens that are being sold as legal substitutes for LSD or Mescaline. “Legal Acid,” “Smiles,” and “251”are nicknames for the drug. It can be in a powder form or a liquid soaked into blotter paper (like LSD) or in food. More powerful then LSD ever has been and more dangerous! It is causing seizures, heart attacks, and deaths!
“Syrup,” “Purple Drank,” “Sizzurp,” or “Lean” really hits home for me as I lost a friend to this drug a few months ago. Prescription strength cough syrup containing codeine and promethazine mixed with soda, and sometimes hard candies. Codeine and other opioids present a high risk of fatal overdose due to their effect of depressing the central nervous system, which can slow or stop the heart and lungs. Mixing with alcohol greatly increases this risk. Deaths are happening, and will continue!
