A CRAZY & MAD WORLD!
Sometimes I wonder if other people grew up on another planet or if they just were never taught about common decency? Where I come from, I was taught to respect my elders, to respect authority, and follow rules. I was taught to be polite, respectful, and kind. Being a Christian, I do believe in the Word, that we are our brother's keepers. I also believe in the Royal law, that love is the most important commandment. That being said, I really don't know what has happened to people. They seem so bitter and hateful. I have never seen so much anger in all my years! That can only mean that there is a great deal of fear and hurt in people today.
I see college age people who don't have any of life's coping skills at all. They need to be re-parented. Their parents never taught them any skills; they were too busy trying to be their friends. I met a twenty year old young man a few weeks ago that punched his mother because he wanted to use her car and she said no. I know a young lady who no longer has a mother because on her attempted last day of heroine IV use mom decided to join in! One family’s son took the family car and went out for a night of partying with friends. MDMA, lots of alcohol, smoking joints and opiate pills. There were three good friends in the car when the very intoxicated young man lost control and all three lives. Heartbreaking!
It seems like ever since the family unit became a thing of the past, that's when the problems started. I remember actually sitting around the dinner table every night, having dinner with the whole family. There were no cell phones, XBoxes, tablets, Facebook, or heroin. We went to school without guns or knives. If there was a disagreement, it was settled with fists. We played sports or had jobs after school and home in time for dinner with the family. We were taught boundaries, rules, lessons, and respect.
Policemen and Soldiers were treated like heroes, they earned our respect. The President and the flag had meaning, something we were all proud of!
Parents knew they were parents and had the responsibility of teaching their children right from wrong. They didn't try to be their friends. Kids knew their place, where they belonged as they grew up. They had a since of purpose. They had goals and dreams.
Now there are too many broken homes with confused kids. They don't know their place. It's like they're lost, a lost generation. They don't exercise, they don't have boundaries, and they don't play by anyone's rules. They live in a fantasy world of dungeons and dragons. They don't know who they are or where they are going. Drugs seem like a nice escape to them. Although their parents have spent years trying to be their friends, they don't know them at all. There are no jobs; college is way too expensive, unless the parents pay, so why bother to grow up? Smoking pot and playing video games lets them forget about the scary world.
World War III is knocking at the door; innocent people are being murdered abroad. Nothing is for certain any longer! Kids are overdosing in our streets. New and emerging dangerous drugs tempt our young every day. The parents are scared to death and you can't blame them. The world they knew is long gone!
No wonder everyone is so angry, why wouldn't they be? The truth is that we all have to grow up and that life is hard. We need to make the best of this crazy world we live in, it's all we have. There are professionals to help individuals with any assistance that individuals may need, from anger management, to recovery coaching, family recovery coaching, interventionists, sober companions, domestic violence professionals, and Christian or secular counselors to name a few.
Bibles and prayers aren’t allowed in schools any longer. Some have turned the word God into a four letter word in certain places. People are leaving the institution of the church in record numbers. If they crucified Jesus at Calvary imagine what this world and the people in it would do to Him now! I would think with all the problems that we have in the world today, the death, war, murders, disease, that more people would gravitate toward the church. It doesn’t really make sense.
The United States has more people in prison than any other country. We can’t lock everyone up! Our citizens are losing more and more of their rights every day. It’s almost as if the whole Nation has gone to sleep while it gets robbed and looted by everyone that can take from us. It really is a very different world then most of us grew up in, and is changing every day. We are told that social security won’t last. The dollar could collapse at any time. There are underground volcanoes in places like Yellowstone Park that could cause massive destruction to the States. There are terrorists in the States and abroad. People are being burned alive and beheaded! The laws make it harder and harder to defend our homes. The National debt is astronomical! It really is a crazy world that we live in. We need each other more than ever before in the history of man. God I pray that you forgive us and can salvage this mess.
